The first thing that I will want to arrange at the outset of any job is a consultation. The important points with regard to such a consultation are:

• A meeting of all interested parties is vital at the outset;
• The meeting forms the basis for the future development of the garden (ie. the 'plan' in Garden Plan);
• It can be decided whether work will be undertaken as one major project or in stages (as conditions dictate);
• It can also be decided whether technical backup will be required during the establishment stage, and after if appropriate.
